Soup64 OS

RELASE DATE: JUNE 29th, 2019

Requirements:

1. An internet connection (Ethernet preferred). The installation will require you to install packages via the Internet from our repository, so please make sure the system is able to access them. It will be roughly a couple GB of data depending on what you want installed.

2. About 15-20 GB free space MINIMUM!! Please, it is HIGHLY recommended if you want a GUI and applications with it to have at least 40+ GB free. If you download everything possible so far to date, you will fill up a 60GB partition, so if want to future proof, please install Soup64 on 100+ GB. This will ensure you won't run out of space too soon. More is always better!

3. Currently, you will need basic Linux knowledge. If the install goes well and all you intent to do is browse the web, send emails, and play basic games, then you will need little knowledge.

4. If you wish to dual boot with Windows, Mac, or another Linux, please keep in mind how installing Grub will work. Using the LiveCD, it will prompt you what you want to dual boot with. BIG NOTE: If you are dual booting with Windows or Mac, it is HIGHLY recommended that you have it installed BEFORE installing Soup64. It will override Grub and you will not be able to access Soup64 unless you know how to fix it. If installing another Linux distro, this problem is usually nonexistent, but please make sure you don't soft brick the OS.

5. Soup64 does require an x86_64/amd64 processor, hence the name. Any recent computer should work, even my Intel Atom from 2012 worked with a small workaround, but if you don't have a recent computer, please just take a quick look, especially before submitting a bug report. :)

6. Be prepared to deal with bugs, if you encouter one, please submit it and we will do our best to fix it as soon as we can.

Expert Install: To download the base release to install without any script, please download here. Instructions on how to install are linked beside it, these are rough instructions to follow on a Linux or Windows system. If you are not comfortable installing this way, please see the LiveCD link below and follow the easier instructions there!

LiveCD Install: To download the LiveCD and install that way, please use this link. It will guide you through a command line interface (CLI) to install Soup64 OS. It will require you to have a blank CD or USB drive, and a tool to put the iso file on there. This is a WAY easier tool than the above way, but you still need to know what you're doing.
